Many films and television shows have pleasing aesthetic that drawn in their audience. It can be labelled as a theory that has everything to do about beauty in all its delightful, pleasant and stunning aspects that revolves around the world of art. The strong use of a pleasing aesthetic the art seems more realistic, from scenes used to character portrayed resemble with the characters of real life.
In the 2016 film, Moonlight directed by Barry Jenkins,we see many of aesthetic communication that resonates with us as audience and the black LGBT community. One of Moonlight biggest aesthetic is Refine society and culture by offering the ideal. As human we believe that we are capable of understanding the determination of beauty. In the film, we see the ideal of individualism Moonlight follows Chiron, an African American living in a poverty neighborhood of Miami. Bullied at an early age and seemingly outcast, Chiron knows he doesn’t fit in because of his sexuality. The audience that watch Moonlight with gravitate toward that Chiron is a very young, black male that is gay. In the film, it is shown that Chiron knows he is different, and what makes this such a beautiful message is that he knows at a young age.
Copping with the labor of life plays a strong factor into the aesthetic flow of the film, when we are introduced to an older Chiron as the we get deep into the film we Adult Chiron is on a mission to find himself and become comfortable in his own skin. To act and live like he truly feels, instead of playing a role laid out for him by society. Everyday people struggle with this task every single day. We all know how hard it is to be yourself, but when you find yourself in Chiron’s case, “being yourself” is extraordinarily difficult especially when you live in environments that despise against you.
