Structural Analysis
The sign in the media piece was on season 4, episode 24, of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, when Will’s dad shows up after 14 years out of the picture. The two have a great time together, all while Uncle Phil thinks this will just end in disappointment again for Will. In the end, Will’s father does end up disappointing his son again causing the most emotional moment within the entire season. The sign of that episode was to expose how many young people hurt internally on the inside when don’t receive love from a parental figure. The meaning was to show society how important it is for a parent to have a healthy relationship with their children.
The signifier that viewed the episode relates to Will Smith’s character Will because Black fathers are more likely to be absent in a household. In this episode, the signifier relates more to Will if they have a similar situation to a parent that birth them, most of them would understand the desire of wanting the love and affection of an absent parent. This results in most signifiers finding a parental figure elsewhere. For example, Will Smith character Will have a strained relationship with his birth father making him desire the love and affection from actor James Avery character Phillip Banks as a father figure. Depiction Analysis
In the early and late nineties, black sitcoms such as Sister Sister, Moesha, A Different World, and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air dominated our television airways becoming the shows we all know and love today.

In an era, where television was lacking the presence of a strong black family structure. The show, ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ along with many other black sitcoms filled that void on television. Society sitcoms and televisions idolized the “American dream” that was being displayed on television, where a middle-aged man and woman preferably white, two kids, a dog, a nice family house, and a white picket fence. Where in the black community in television the family structure seemed broken or not represented in a positive aspect.
1990, sitcom Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air challenge the status quo of day time television at a time where black families didn’t have a strong presence The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air elevated the presence of black families on the television screen.

How the Sitcom Fresh Prince of Bel-Air made its impact on television and the black community is by having characters that are relatable to everyday people. The Aesthetic of Camera Angles
Influential hip-hop star Nicki Minaj has been on the top of her game since 2010 when she released her debut album ‘Pink Friday’ since then she has released astonishing music videos such as Super Base, Your Love, and Moment 4 Life. NormallyMs. Minaj’s music videos are very vibrant and inspired by the Japanese Harajuku culture. However, she takes a different approach with her 2012 music video ‘Freedom’.
In the music video, we see that she takes a different approach by having the majority of the duration of the video in black and white giving off a silhouette aesthetic this gives the video a very raw emotion of vulnerability that makes the audience see the emotion and expressive quality. What makes the videos different from her videos is that this video utilizes and captures the properties of light and darkness.
The video has smooths cuts that avoid are very smooth and easy on the eyes. The cuts are not out of place. The cuts within the video flow very well together. One transition shot shows Nicki Minaj in a black long-sleeve dress and a crown of thorns referencing Jesus’ sacrifice this also symbolizes the sacrifices she made for her career. There are also some quick cuts of waves crashing against the shore and an of the ark which is another bible reference to Noah ark and the great flood.
The video itself captures great quality close-ups presenting great emotions through the artist, we see a different side of Nicki Minaj the close does justice in capturing being timider and more sincere compared to her other videos where the majority of the angles doesn’t capture most expression as it did in the music video ‘Freedom’. Music Continuity
When Nicki Minaj released her first debut album, ‘Pink Friday’ in 2010, she embarked on a musical journey to become of of the most influential figures in hip-hop culture.
In a 2009, interview with MTV, Minaj stated “for my first album I want to have fun. I don’t want to put pressure on myself because I feel like my musical ability becomes great when I am just having fun in the studio”. The first album Nicki Minaj expected in having a wonderful musical continuity. ‘Pink Friday’ is a musical piece that delivered the right amount of surprises, but surprises that didn’t make you feel lost while listening to the album.
while, listening to certain tracks on the album I know that certain songs like “Save Me”, “Here I am” and “Girls Fall Like Dominos” are all tracks that fit into the fourth and final musical attribute Aptness of task. The Depth Of Mean Girls
In the reviews, I read on RottenTomatoes about the film, ‘Mean Girls”. The reviews take a deeper study into the films’ comical and lighthearted impressions and explore the humanities and personal message they received from the film.

Most reviews were based on the observation about behavior and outcomes that were displayed in ‘Mean Girls’. One review I came across states, “Mean Girls is a good movie about the hateful and terrible atmosphere some teenagers find themselves in high school that has some comedic aspects but is hard to watch how terrible people can be to one another. The movie teaches viewers by the end to stay true to yourself and your friends, because that what matters at the end of the day.” The reviewer, making it a simple review about the behavior of the everyday high school student they also express that the film can teach and help people learn the importance of self-realization and self-respect when a person is going through the adolescent stage in life.

Another personal review on Rotten Tomatoes explains, “The movie flows very well and constantly have the audiences’ attention. There is an actual arch for our main character, and we root for her throughout. This movie is an example of a great set up, great delivery, and finishing with a lighthearted punch”. The viewer received the media piece as an easy movie to digest. The audience pays attention to how to the dialect and the flow of the movie-making in an enjoyable movie in cinematic culture. What makes ‘Means Girls’ a cinematic success is how the audience has somehow perceived Lindsay Lohan’s character Cady Heron, as someone they could relate to at some point in their lives, whether it’s being a new student at a school or losing oneself to fit in a specific crowd.
The delivery and message of the pop culture film is filled with witty jokes and a comical aesthetic that makes it more relatable for a viewer to feel attached or make connections to the media piece itself.
The Communication Process
In the film review, MeanGirls The writer focuses on the four steps of process communication by reviewing the 2004 film, Mean Girls.
The first step the article takes in addressing the process of the communication process is the message of the movie. The article explains, “It’s pointless to put someone else down in an attempt to make yourself look or feel superior..after 90 minutes of poking fun at self-important, superficial cliques, the story closes by urging teens to clear the air amongst themselves and practice mutual respect. Cady learns that it’s true..Another strong message involves the destructive power of gossip, be it malicious or merely careless”. It’s not hard to say that the movie, Mean Girls is one of the most iconic Chick flicks yet to date. Take away the unforgettable phrases, and the comical feel of the movie, the audience can see that the movie message has shown many pre-teens the spitefulness of what gossip and revenge can do to a person.

Another process that the writer of the article sees within the film is the medium process of communication. The medium used in the film is through body image, clothing, and, body image. In the article, the writer states “Beautiful girls onscreen are extremely self-conscious about their appearance, which could cause “average” teens in the audience to feel even more inadequate.” One valuable lesson that the viewer of the film can see is how hard young girls view themselves and their bodies. A lesson the move gives to women and girls around the world is that talking down on yourself will only make it ok for men to do it.
Throughout the film review, the writer mentions many people received and digested the movie message well. Means Girls is looked at as a movie that is appropriate for pre-teen because it takes personal issues that young women go through and adds a comical feel to it.
lastly, the writer of the article doesn’t address or say anything about the originator process of the communication process.
